About Price Benowitz, LLP

Price Benowitz, LLP is a mid-sized law firm headquartered in Washington, D.C., with offices throughout Washington, D.C., Maryland, Virginia, South Carolina, and Illinois. Guided by our core values of Passion, Integrity, and Excellence, we leverage technology to improve efficiency, enhance client service, and support our continued growth.

Our Technology & Data team develops and maintains technology solutions that automate critical business processes across the firm. We are seeking a Senior Automation & Integrations Developer who can independently own complex automation initiatives from initial business requirements through architecture, development, deployment, and ongoing optimization.

Position Overview

This is a senior, hands-on technical role for an experienced automation and integrations developer who can operate with a high degree of independence and ownership.

We are specifically looking for someone who has personally designed and developed production-grade automations and integrations, rather than primarily providing technical support, administering existing platforms, or maintaining workflows built by others.

The successful candidate will be comfortable receiving a business problem or desired outcome, determining the appropriate technical approach, and driving the solution through completion with limited day-to-day supervision.

You will work directly with the Director of Technology & Data and will be expected to serve as a trusted technical resource who can make sound architectural decisions, identify risks, troubleshoot complex issues, and take ownership of automation projects without requiring extensive 1:1 direction.

Initially, the role will focus heavily on accounting and financial automations, including QuickBooks Online and the movement, validation, and synchronization of financial data between accounting and other internal systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently own automation and integration projects from requirements gathering and solution design through development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
  • Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions without requiring detailed step-by-step technical direction.
  • Design and develop integrations between SaaS applications using REST APIs, webhooks, authentication protocols, and automation platforms.
  • Architect reliable workflows that appropriately handle validation, error conditions, retries, logging, monitoring, and data integrity.
  • Build and maintain integrations involving QuickBooks Online and financial/accounting data.
  • Evaluate existing processes and recommend automation opportunities and appropriate technical solutions.
  • Troubleshoot complex production issues, identify root causes, and implement permanent solutions rather than temporary fixes.
  • Review and improve existing automations for reliability, maintainability, scalability, and performance.
  • Make technical recommendations regarding integration architecture, automation platforms, and implementation approaches.
  • Communicate directly with business stakeholders to clarify requirements, identify potential problems, and recommend solutions.
  • Maintain clear technical documentation covering architecture, workflows, APIs, dependencies, and operational procedures.
  • Establish and follow development best practices, including version control, testing, documentation, and code review.
  • Serve as a senior technical resource within the Technology & Data team and provide guidance on automation and integration initiatives.
  • Proactively identify risks, dependencies, and opportunities for improvement before they become operational problems.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional experience in software development, systems integration, automation engineering, or a closely related technical role.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience designing and developing production automations and system integrations.
  • Demonstrated experience independently owning technical projects from concept through production deployment.
  • Strong hands-on experience integrating multiple SaaS platforms using REST APIs and webhooks.
  • Strong experience with at least one programming or scripting language, preferably Python or JavaScript.
  • Experience with automation/integration platforms such as Make, n8n, Zapier, Microsoft Power Automate, Workato, or similar tools.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, relational databases, and data structures.
  • Experience designing integrations that require data transformation, validation, synchronization, and error handling.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex integration and automation failures and perform root-cause analysis.
  • Ability to evaluate a business problem, determine an appropriate technical solution, and execute it with limited supervision.
  • Experience communicating technical concepts and recommendations to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong professional English proficiency (B2+ minimum) sufficient to lead technical discussions, participate actively in meetings, and produce clear technical documentation.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver projects reliably in a remote environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience integrating with QuickBooks Online, including the QuickBooks Online API.
  • Experience building automations involving accounting or financial data.
  • Experience with OAuth 2.0 and other API authentication methods.
  • Experience with Git or similar version-control systems.
  • Experience designing monitoring, logging, alerting, and failure-recovery processes for production automations.
  • Experience working with cloud-based business applications and APIs.
  • Experience serving as a technical lead, senior developer, or primary technical owner for automation or integration projects.
  • Experience supporting business operations within professional services, legal services, financial services, or another process-intensive organization.

Formal people-management experience is not required. We are more interested in demonstrated technical ownership, sound judgment, and the ability to independently lead projects and solutions.

What We Are Looking For

This role is best suited for someone who can say:

“Give me the business problem and desired outcome, and I can determine how to build the solution.”

We are looking for a developer who:

  • Has actually built integrations, not simply supported or configured them.
  • Can explain the architecture and technical decisions behind solutions they personally developed.
  • Has owned production systems and understands what happens when automations fail.
  • Can investigate unfamiliar APIs and systems independently.
  • Raises questions and risks proactively rather than waiting for detailed instructions.
  • Can communicate directly with stakeholders and turn incomplete business requirements into workable technical solutions.
  • Knows when a no-code/low-code platform is appropriate and when custom development is the better solution.
  • Is comfortable being accountable for the reliability and quality of their work.

Compensation & Hours

  • Standard working hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM Eastern Time.
  • Compensation: $20–$25 per hour, with the final rate determined by Price Benowitz, LLP based on the candidate’s qualifications, technical depth, and experience.
