Position Summary

Price Benowitz LLP is seeking an experienced Family Law Paralegal to support one of our Family Law attorneys in our Washington, DC office. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled professional who thrives in a fast-paced litigation environment and enjoys serving as a trusted partner to the attorney.

The ideal candidate is proactive, resourceful, and exceptionally organized. They anticipate the attorney’s needs, take ownership of their work, and confidently manage cases from intake through resolution with minimal supervision. This individual exercises sound judgment, identifies issues before they arise, and helps ensure cases continue moving efficiently while maintaining the highest level of client service.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive support throughout all phases of family law litigation, including divorce, custody, child support, spousal support, equitable distribution, contempt actions, domestic violence matters, and post-judgment proceedings.
  • Draft, review, and finalize pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, financial affidavits, settlement agreements, correspondence, and other legal documents.
  • Prepare and electronically file pleadings in Washington, DC courts while ensuring compliance with applicable court rules and deadlines.
  • Manage attorney calendars, court dates, discovery deadlines, mediation schedules, and case timelines.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, providing compassionate, professional communication and regular case updates.
  • Review, organize, and summarize financial records, tax returns, bank statements, business records, and other documents relevant to family law matters.
  • Coordinate discovery, document production, subpoenas, depositions, and expert witnesses.
  • Prepare hearing notebooks, trial binders, exhibits, witness files, and mediation materials.
  • Maintain organized electronic and physical case files.
  • Monitor case progress, proactively identify outstanding tasks, and help ensure matters advance efficiently and deadlines are met.
  • Work collaboratively with attorneys, opposing counsel, court personnel, mediators, experts, and clients.
  • Accurately record billable time and assist with case management and administrative responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of family law paralegal experience, preferably in a litigation-focused practice.
  • Extensive experience handling complex family law matters from inception through resolution.
  • Experience with Washington, DC family law procedures is strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional drafting, proofreading, organizational, and case management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of discovery procedures, court filings, and litigation support.
  • Ability to manage multiple active cases while meeting competing deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • High degree of professionalism, discretion, and client service.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal case management software.
